 “Steady” Ed Tournament Series Stamp

Last year was the first year of the “Steady” Ed Tournament Series and over 800 competitors got to experience these great events and be part of the series inaugural year. The 2007 tour was a good building block for the “Steady” Ed Tournament series. In 2008 we would like to thank our returning tournament partners for their support. Our goal is to help build this series into one of the most enjoyable, well run tournament series on the planet. One of the main goals with this series is to involve tournaments that go above and beyond the typical or standard disc golf tournament.

These are tournaments that embody the vision that “Steady” Ed had for the future of disc golf and also demonstrate a fun and inviting atmosphere that “Steady” Ed would have enjoyed playing in and would have been proud to attach his name to. Our retuning events have all shown that they are worthy of the “Steady” Ed Stamp of approval. This year we are excited to add two new events to the series, The Lava Launch in Bend, Oregon and the Visalia End of the Trail Classic. We feel that both of these events will fit into the series nicely and provide traveling players with another excellent stop on the “Steady” Ed Tournament Series.

This year the “Steady” Ed Tournament Series will be implementing a points based rating system for all of the events involved with our series. The point structure will be based off the PDGA point system. Since all of our tournaments are PDGA sanctioned, players playing in these events already accumulate points from the PDGA. The PDGA determines these points partly based on what tier the tournament is, all of the SETS events are B-tier events with the exception of the Masters Cup that qualifies as an A-tier event for the amateur and a National Tour event for the professionals. This means that, as in the PDGA system players are eligible to earn more points at the Masters Cup because it’s a higher tiered event.

At the end of the tournament series DGA will crown a series winner for each of the following divisions. The winner is the competitor who has accumulate the most points by playing in “Steady” Ed Tournament Series Events. Only points from the six SETS events will be counted for the final point standings. Points will be taken directly from the PDGA results and the winners will be notified after the series has concluded for the year. Series point’s winners will be publicized on our web site as well as congratulated in a DGA tournament series ad that will run in both of the major disc golf publications.
